Getting to work with so many high growth, high potential businesses is a privilege for so many reasons — not least being able to observe how the world of work is changing, first-hand.

At the beginning of the COVID-19 crisis, there was a lot of talk about silver linings when it came to how we work — a sense that some fundamental assumptions were being challenged and replaced by increased flexibility and more individualised experiences. So what actually happened?

We’ve identified 15 key trends through our work with our clients; from…

Anouk Agussol, Founder + CEO, Unleashed

For many of you reading this month’s Founder Story, you will need no introduction to the ever-fabulous Anouk Agussol, but if you’re new here, Anouk is Unleashed’s Founder and CEO.

Anouk has mastered the ability to provide meaningful insight and high-impact advice to founders of fast-growth businesses — so much so that she’s quickly grown a team around her to do the very same!

So, as Unleashed turns 4 years old this month, People + Culture Partner Tom Jewell invited Anouk to reflect on the journey thus far. Read on to hear how Anouk came to found Unleashed, some surprising…

When I first came up with the idea of writing this blog, I wanted it to be about what coaching has taught me over the years. I thought it would be super easy and helpful to showcase it in a blog post for people to read. Yet when I sat down to write it, it proved MUCH more difficult than I thought. Yes, coaching HAS taught me many many things, but herein lies the problem — the learnings have been so vast and so varied (from simple changes in perspective to…

In the People space, we talk a lot about inclusion, the positive impact of psychological safety and fighting overt discrimination — but we don’t often talk about microaggressions.

Why the hell not?

Microaggressions are far too easy to sweep under the rug. We often don’t realise what they are or that they’re happening because they’re so hidden. Hidden within conversations, AND hidden because of our own naivety to the impact they’re having on people.

But their very existence is causing tears, rips and holes in your culture. So that’s where we’re…

How many times have you found yourself going to bed at night only to have your thoughts start spinning in your head? Thought after thought cobwebbing your mind, compounding your worries and anxieties. All you want to do is get rid of them, make them stop. But they simply won’t go away. So what can you do instead? You can explore your worries constructively by working your way through your thoughts.

You may be thinking to yourself — “But am I not exploring…

Like most companies over the past fourteen months, Mental Health First Aid (MHFAE) England’s team hasn’t been immune from the impact of COVID-19. Like its own clients — many of them leading UK businesses — MHFAE had to pivot early in the pandemic. This meant moving the entirety of its Mental Health training courses from face to face to virtual, pretty much overnight. With this pivot, the organisation and its team had to adapt rapidly to new ways of working whilst trying to balance working at home (during a pandemic). It’s no wonder that the pandemic’s impact on the team’s…

Over the past few weeks, as I come to the 3-month mark with Unleashed, I’ve been reflecting on my time so far and wondering why it has felt relatively easy to start a new (and very different) role, mid-lockdown while homeschooling 2 children. The answer? I’ve found my fit.

For anyone out there looking for a new role (or maybe even considering applying to Unleashed in future😉) I wanted to provide a little insight into my journey from my first meeting with the team until today. My hope is that reading…

On top of helping fast-growth businesses scale both sustainably and successfully through People + Culture, a key element of our mission at Unleashed is to create fulfilling work lives to boot!

So, in honour of National Careers Week which took place earlier this month, we were keen to deepen our understanding of the future of work — and, for a change, focus our attention not on what the workplace of the future will look like, but instead, on the people who will be working in it.

Are we setting our young people up well enough to live fulfilling work lives…

What did you want to be when you grew up? If you’d have asked me when I was 8 years old, I would have said a Marine Biologist — inspired by Anita Ganeri’s masterwork Odious Oceans. Unfortunately, this dream quickly took a knock when I realised that I was abysmal at science and was properly put to bed when I had my first panic attack whilst snorkelling.

My next idea was also inspired by a book (there’s a theme here!) — this time To Kill A Mockingbird, Harper Lee’s complicated classic. This time…

Written by Unleashed People + Culture Partner, Michaela Bartlam

I’d like to caveat this post with a short statement: I love working with startups. I love working with amazing, entrepreneurial Founders; with talented and passionate teams, working on something that’s really making a difference. I find startup life exciting, fast-paced, thrilling, impactful and really rewarding!

Working in a startup, however, is not a walk in the park. One thing is for sure — if you’re thinking about a career in startups, be ready to jump on board a speed boat!

At Unleashed, we’re lucky enough to get to work with…
